Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/feature-requests/545 Item 545] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 20:22:06

X spots on the map and if a team touched one, it would become "theirs" and the player would get 1 point per second until another player touched it. so the idea was to try and keep the most points tagged for the longest periods to get the most points during the map.

* we would need some sort of stackable icon feature for the hud, the game code must be able to add/remove these icons.
* the spots could be easily done with a new edict type called trigger_count or something like that, that is basically a counter
* a timelimit for a match

Rather than a time limit, I think it should be a maximum score. First to reach the score wins. Ideally this would be set on a per-map basis and be displayed on the HUD.

For the "flags", perhaps we could use particles. Could the game swap out particles? A red particle for one team, a blue particle for another team, a white particle for neutral (no one owns it). And I guess maybe green and yellow particles for the future if we want to implement 4 teams.

yes, this can be done in the trigger, too - we just need particles

this is almost implemented via misc_mission - called king-of-the-hill there
