Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/feature-requests/411 Item 411] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 20:20:07

The dropdown in which the user chooses the language displays the various languages translated into the currently selected language. While consistent, this poses a problem when the user selects a language that he does not speak - he is unable to recognize the name of the language when it is written in Japanese, for example. A better way is to have the languages listed in the language listed, followed by the localized name in parenthesis.

Observed result:
When switching to Japanese, the list of languages becomes unintelligible.

Expected result:
When switching to Japanese, the list of languages should remain understandable, allowing easy undoing of the mistake.

It is yet not possible because it will use too much memory, and too much precomputation. We use SDLttf and i dont think (or we dont use it very well) it only load what it need.

I already test to create a subfont with all glyths need to write all languages (it need something between 200-500 gliths, and we can filter it more). Iv got the subset or character code, but i dont find a nice tool to do create the font, with hands it need too much time. If you know something like that...

Plus, it is very nice, because anyway the list will be sorted.

Languages appear on their native name now. Bayo created a small font with letters needed to describe the currently supported languages..
