Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/2885 Item 2885] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 19:50:51

Rendering of models once was much better, it seems that gouraud shading is deactivated or does not work correctly anymore...

Now the models are rendered very flat compared to v2.1.
Screenshots from 2.1 here: http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=5555.msg44813#msg44813

what's the state here? this is no longer valid, no?
====== alextishin (2011-10-17 00:10:46) ======

It is still valid -- for the fixed function path renderer.
====== tlh2000 (2011-10-17 05:40:07) ======

is the fix something for 2.4 - or later versions?
====== mcr2010 (2011-10-19 09:51:12) ======

It would be nice to have some better rendering for the actors/models back, but this IMHO should not be a showstopper for 2.4.
Sandro should decide this.

a little bit offtopic, but IMPORTANT for 2.4: The models are rendered much too bright (on Linux at least) compared to the map (brushes) !

I will attach another screenshot showing this.

+Bridge by night, models much too bright
====== alextishin (2011-10-26 23:52:20) ======

Don't know about FFP fixes being easy enough to incorporate them into 2.4, sorry. Will try a few hacks to see if easy way works or not.

Overbright models should be fixed by 5b42ecf2044011c53f67352201b160e1091eff9e

Overbright models: Fix confirmed.
Looks much better now.
Thanx, Sandro :)
