I can help at least a bit (by translating), since I really REALLY like the game, and can't do much else to help right now.

I can work on Polish translation. I have played UFO and UFO 2 games (whatever names you give them) and I consider myself proficient with english and my native polish (I make spelling errors very rarely ;).

I have already looked through wiki and seen that quite few ufopedia/story entries are not translated. Looking as the story does not seem to be translated at all I wanted to start out with that.

Cheers :)

Thanks. That certainly helps a lot to not make a blunder :)

Since my desire was fresh I was able to roughly translate the storyline articles, though I have some holes and certainly need to go over it at least once or twice more before trying to put that in wiki.

I will also need to get into contact with others doing the translations into polish. Any good advice on that ?
I thought of just using Zenerka's discussion page (since Zenerka seems to be the "boss" for polish translation), but maybe there are other established forms of communication I should use ?

Have a nice day

yes, either the irc channel - or add it to Zenerka's discussion page - both should work.

When I return to Spain I will be able to translate it to japanese. I will send you a message then.
I LOVE this game. EA

I could do the Finnish translation (I'm a native:) but just don't expect it to be fast or anything...

I'm not a professional, but I think I can handle it...
Contact me if you want/accept my help. I know it's rough and big job, so I'm not promising I'd do much very fast, but at least I can offer some help, not to mention give help with some special vocabulary. Not scientific, but army language.

About Google translate ... nooo!

1. Its designed to translate all the text, for translating po files it must be quite tweaked with code.
2. It translates funny - its not acceptable solution for culture reference rich content like game text. Direct translation could sound really weird.
3. It still has no support for smaller languages like Estonian.

I had a look on Estonian translation, current version is translated by quite unliterate person. Its full of obvious errors and also childish examples. I have made some work on this translation, but my time is also quite limited and I don't know how to submit changes.
