SVN r10836.

As you can see from the very dark screenshots (darn that gamma slider), some aliens show up as purple diamonds. I suspect they carry armour, because after the dropship returned to the base camp, I could research alien armour.

Could be related to #1769165 or #1459713.

I got the same problem in trunk 10848 (it's even the same map as the attached screen shot). My log shows these lines, maybe they can help:
