to reproduce: in Equip Aircraft menu choose soldiers
and hit Esc, then try to start a mission, the game will
crash to desktop without errors

I have the same problem here with RC3.

When an alien landing site appears on the map, I left click
on it and then want to start the aircraft using the menu
button on the lower-left of the GUI, it just crashes to
desktop immediately.

I can, however, start a mission by first double clicking on
the landing site to have the aircraft go there.
