Often, I find myself requiring a time setting between the ones of '1 hour' and '12 hours'. I get impatient using the 1 hour setting, but at the 12 hour setting, the ticks are too far apart and game behavior such as UFO/aircraft flight and detection and completion times of construction, production and research becomes erratic, which I'd rather avoid. Also, there's not much call to have 12 hours and 1 day time settings both - the difference is only a factor of 2, while the previous jump is a factor of 12.

Long story short, I think the '12 hours' setting should be changed to 4 hours or 6 hours per second.

Or maybe you could give the player the option to choose time intervals for themselves by making this scriptable.

I'd also like a 4 hour setting. It's worth discussing whether we should remove the very fast time settings since we have problems at those settings anyway. 4 hours may be enough.

I'd support removing the fastest '7 days' setting, maybe '1 day', too - 12 hours is the fastest I personally use, though if it got changed to 4/6 hours, I'd probably use those instead. I might use '1 day' if I'm really in a hurry, but it wouldn't be a great shame not to have access to it.

The extra slot(s) could be used to balance the slower time settings better. The '5 sec' setting is almost completely useless unless you really want to see every individual laser shot hit a UFO you are fighting, but for watching fights and evaluating combat performance it does have its uses. But there could also be another setting between 5 sec and 5 mins - this is a jump of a factor of 60, which is frankly ridiculous. UFO fights where both actors fire slowly are a pain to watch on '5 seconds', but are over too fast on '5 minutes'.
