When using the Alt Hud it would be quite good if the game was smart enough to autoselect the slot (right/left hand) that is the most likely to be used for the next action.

Eg
You hold a 2 handed weapon, eg assault rifle, and right hand is selected in the weapon square.
Move a IR google to the left hand. -> This should automagically switch UI to focus on left hand (in any case you can't fire your 2handed weapon, and there is code to make it be greyed out, so should be really easy to "piggy back" on that code to also switch focus).

You manually moved focus to the IR goggles, so focus is on left hand. But now you want to shoot with your actor, and thus move the goggles out of your left hand leaving it empty. It would be great if focus now switched to the right hand, instead of just remaining at the empty left hand.

With 2 onehanded items (eg pistol + medpack) best guess for what most likely to next be used would be last equipped item. Same way, unequiping either item should also auto switch from an empty hand to a hand still holding something.
