Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/feature-requests/458 Item 458] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 20:20:07

Line-of-sight (LoS) is very important in the Tactical UI: who can I see ~ who can I shoot. However, the only way to display LsS in 2.2.1 is to have enough TUs left to select a LoS weapon and enter "targeting mode". I propose a new LoS exploration mode, which I call the "LoS mode", which would be toggled through a UI button with an eye icon on it. Here are two possible implementations:
a) make it similar to targeting mode, but without percentages. You select a member of your team, an alien or a civilian as a source, and you can draw a line from this source to any point, just as you usually do when in targeting mode.
b) or make it completely different, so that instead of lines, LoS for the selected source (team member, alien or civilian) is displayed as a map-wide alpha overlay, which shades in green areas that can be seen, and in red areas that are hidden from the sources' view. This is much harder to implement efficiently and accurately.
