It seems to me from a player's perspective that it's very unfair to require a "UFO Hanger" to only hold a UFO.

Capturing your first UFO is exciting, but it's very disappointing and counter-intuitive to learn that you can't keep it unless you have already built a special kind of facility. From an immersion standpoint it ludicrous that you would give up this gold-mine of research information merely because you don't already have a room built to disassemble them.

From a gameplay, and practical standpoint, i don't see why you should need a "UFO Hanger" merely to *store* any small UFOs. They could be stored in normal hangers and/or normal storage.

I think "UFO Hanger" is misleading, and should be changed to something more descriptive like "UFO Disassembly".

Also the Large UFO "Hanger" probably shouldn't be on the build list until you discover the existence of such large UFOs.

In our storyline, the UFO Hangar was developed in the "old" days of PHALANX.
As for the lack of storage, while we won't allow UFOs to be kept in normal hangars or storage facility, the initial base should have a UFO Hangar pre-built so you can always store your first UFO. Furthermore, if the UFO Hangar is occupied and you capture a new one, you should always be given the opportunity to discard your currently stored UFO to make room for the newly captured one. Frustration should be kept at a minimum this way.

Make it so that you can gather ufos on the geoscape after missions and make the expiry time longer than the time needed to build an ufo hangar facility - that should be fair enough
