An option to have the multiplayer be "play by email" whereby a player completes a turn, the game is saved and emailed to the 2nd player who sees a replay (from his point of view) and then does his turn (which is then saved and emailed along).

Passwords for each player will need to be attached to prevent someone cheating, but these can be simple affairs.

I think it would seriously widen the playability of the multiplayer. A bit like playing chess with someone via email (A4 to B3) except more exciting :)

Emailing need not be ingame. Incubation had a play by email option where you simply attached the save file in a normal email. the receiving player would then open the saved file (saved to hdd) from within the "play by email" multiplayer menu and continue. Unfortunately there was no replay of the previous turn which made it difficult to play, but I've still had many fun games with Incubation's play by mail option.

i don't think this will ever come - we have multiplayer and it works quite well
