Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/feature-requests/121 Item 121] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 20:14:20

Sometimes if trying to select a soldier while an other
is still select I'm missing so that the "old" one is
walking to the "new" one. I would be glade if hitting u
would rollback my mistake.
It's quite clear that actions like shoting shouldn't be
allowed to be reversed

This could be used for cheating when the moved soldier
discovers an alien. So this undo function could be used for
scouting terrain without spending TUs. Therefore I suggest
that in the case where an alien is discovered the movement
cannot be undone.

Even if no alien is discovered, it could be used for
cheating (checking an area if it is safe, undo, and then
using up the TUs for something else) I think the (maybe
optional) assignment of different mouse buttons for
selecting and moving would be more useful.

"different mouse buttons for
selecting and moving"
- or at leased, not using two mouse buttons for the same action.
walk -> left AND right mouse button, kinda confusing.

Would not be a problem anymore when the User Key Binding functionalety is compleeted.

Cheating ... ???, If someone likes to cheat on himself, let them.
The Undo function request is however a direct result of the Dual mouse button use for walking.
When that is eliminated, the need for a undo will take a nose dive.

... popup (walk?,yes/no) ... popup2 (are your sure?,yes/no) ... hehe.

Yes to fixing the mouse buttons. In the original IIRC left click walked, and right click just looked. (ctrl does this now.)

Yes to key binding, but by default don't make every mouse button cause the user to walk.

In Ufo2000, unless i'm mistaken, they had a good idea. If you right-click while the character is moving, he just stops where he is.

It's not a complete "undo", but it works better than nothing, and it's absolutely no-cheating and fair.

An alternative fix, how about being able to unselect a unit? If you don't have a unit selected you can't accidentally make him move.

Setting 'Confirm Actions' option in Input Settings to 'Only for moving' is enough for this issue I think.
