Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/3114 Item 3114] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 20:02:17

in edit -> preferences (P) -> options -> clipper tool settings

Turning on 'clipper tool uses caulk' should force the clipper tool to always put a certain texture on cut surfaces.
This texture is defined in 'caulk shader name'.

1. The presetting of 'caulk shader name' is "/textures/tex_common/nodraw" in wich case the feature will not work at all. Setting the path to "/tex_common/<texturename>" or simply "/tex_common/" makes it work.

2. No matter what <texturename> is used in the path, clipper will always use nodraw.

This is confusing and hard to solve, especially for starters. It results in an unnecessary facecount or even worse.

In my opinion this could be solved two ways :
First, lets go back to 1.5 when there was 'clipper tool uses nodraw' on/off. Good enough for me.
Second, to make it work as intended. The presetting of the texturepath should point to the right place and clipper should use the texture defined in <texturename>.

All of the sudden I am not so sure anymore. Maybe it was a typo I made in the texturepath or whatever. It looks like it works as it should now.

I will have to investigate further - setting this to pending for the moment.

It is pretty weird, but I can reproduce the bug this way :

1. in clipper settings - make sure 'clipper tool uses caulk' is enabled and 'caulk shader name' is "/textures/tex_common/nodraw" (= presetting)
2. close UFORadiant
3. restart UFORadiant, load a map
4a use 'brush' -> 'copy face texture' to copy a random texture other than nodraw, e.g. /tex_nature/sand
or
4b select /tex_nature/sand in the sidebar
5. use clipper tool
6. now clipper tool puts /tex_nature/sand on the cut surfaces
7. you can repeat steps 4 to 6 with different textures
8. open preferences -> clipper settings and simply hitting <OK> will force UFORadiant to apply the correct setting, now it works as intended
