Sometimes connecting to the server takes very very long time and ends with a server crash (assumed?).
Usually reassigning the ship to the same mission however will make it load correctly on the send try.

I've used gdb and halted execution to see what code is currently executing. It seems to perform the line:
while (mp <= end)
*(mp++) = ALL_TILES;

quite a number of times. Hope this helps!

the assembly time for the rma is too long - the timeout for the server connect should only be hit when we are in multiplayer mode
