I've had this problem a few times now in different
circumstances. I tried to get a backtrace but it says:

(gdb) bt
No stack.
(gdb) exit

Is there anyway to get a useful backtrace?

Unfortunately, trunk won't build for me:

You have x86_64? Perhaps install newer version of the
related lib**-dev? In ufoai_2 does it try to build 64 bit
code (../debugx86_64/ref_gl)? If so, it may be that the 64
bits are fine in ufoai_2 but broken in trunk... No clue...
