[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/10 Item 10] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 18:08:35

Ok, as i've already mentioned it in the forum [1] i
have problems playing/starting any mission at all.
I couldn't find the reason for this, so i'm filing a
bug here.

To quote myself:
==============================================
I did that, but i just get an error-message ...
ERROR: Couldn't load maps/villaged/vil_.bsp
... and the screen shows the game-console and then only
black. I can get back to the earth-view though (e.g.
via ESC--[Continue])

I suspect the '_' should be followed by some more
characters.

ok, I've just found out that this only happens with some
missions (normally the first one appearing).
I just waited a bit longer so another mission pops up
(japan-map) and this one works fine :D

I think you meant h0, didn't you?

Ok, so what is going wrong so this 'h0x' is left out?
Does anybody know where this filename is assembled?

the maps are assembled in sv_init.c
in SV_AssembleMap()

i've put some output in the code - the error seams to be in

Just one more note:
This is only for random-maps.
If there is a "+" in front of the mapname it´s a random-map.
In this case: +village will lead to village[d|n].ump in
base/maps folder. Is this bug maybe linux-related? Can`t
reproduce this on a windows-machine - but on a linux-machine.
Feedback??

Ok, I've tried, but can't find any hint's on what is wrong :-/
I think i would need to study the code a bit more.

Heh, after some time i finally checked out the recent code
(svn) and tried this again. It still fails, but with a
different error-message:

---------------------------------------------------
...
...
==== InitGame ====

********************
ERROR: Couldn't load maps/villaged/vil_c04.bsp

==== ShutdownGame ====

---------------------------------------------------

Since i can't find a vil_c04.bsp anywhere (base-package +
svn) it's kinda obvious this is just some minor thing (wrong
map-file or un-uploaded file) to fix .... but i may be wrong
here.

Small Update:
Starting a new game yesterday (or was it loading a save
game, dunno exactly) gave me another .bsp file (some
village, I don't remember the exact file), which worked fine.

And there _exists_ a "vil_c04.map" file, but no matching
.bsp file, i suspect this should not be the case.
