Description
This is something that I feel detracts from gameplay currently, the various usable ammunition types are well and truly a feature and in no way am I suggesting that be removed. What I am suggesting is that instead of handling ammunition stores on a per-magazine basis that each unit has several 'ammo slots'.

Think of these as separate ALICE pockets. For example each unit has its armour and then the unit picks (for example) 3 or 4 ALICE packs that suit them, each pack holds (again example only) 4 reloads of that specific type of ammunition.

The purpose of this would be to make it easier for soldiers to be equipped with ammunition and that ammunition comes in a more standardised form. Let's take a look at an example:

Here we have a soldier named Knutt, he is a rifleman with an assault rifle, he also has a pistol in a holster and two grenades and two flashbangs.

The ALICE composition and loadout would then be as follows:
1x assault rifle (in hands)
1x assault rifle ALICE pack (4 mags)
1x pistol (in holster)
1x pistol holster ALICE pack (2 mags and pistol storage)
1x Grenade ALICE satchel (2 frags)
1x Flashbang ALICE satchel (2 flashbangs)

The backpack itself can be treated as a different satchel or as a satchel of its own. I feel this system would go a long way towards streamlining loadouts and I also feel that it closer represents the actual loudouts used by real soldiers.

Naturally everything here is but a proposal and open to criticism/change/balancing. I just think it is worthwhile to consider because the loadout section is by far the most time-consuming and 'jagged' part of any actual operation. With multiple bases and multiple response teams per base it gets to be the majority of the game.

The actual system for what you can carry could be say... you have 6 'slots' for packs and certain packs take up more than one 'slot'. Allowing for a much easier way to manage loadouts.
