Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/409 Item 409] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 18:21:29

This is similar to BUG1526359, except group and
operating system.
Tried to run UFO, but received errors.
First time it was about not enough swap file size.
Second, about unability to allocate xxx bytes of
memory by malloc.

My OS is Windows XP Proffesional SP2.
Pentium III 550MHz, 192MB RAM
NVidia GeForce2 MX/MX 400 with 32MBRAM

It is possible the game might need more than 192MB RAM.
There are reports of the game working on XP boxes with 256MB
RAM. The memory profile of the game needs some further
investigation (can the footprint be reduced... are there any
major leaks etc).

You might be able to get it to run if you try increasing
swap-file size (there is some option buried in windows
somewhere). Of course if it has to swap to disk to work
while running the game, things may not work very smoothly.

You were right. I had swap space manually set to 192MB.
After giving control of it to system, it increased size to
~640MB and UFO ran. Quite smoothly, at least on geoscape.
Thanks.
