Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/feature-requests/185 Item 185] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 20:14:20

As autoequp does some annoying stuff sometimes, I would like to propose the following restriction:
Not more than one Medikit, Knife, IR-Goggle per person. (Maybe even exactly one so Medikits aren't unequipped in the ship.)

Not that important, but might be useful: no more than 3 grenades of a type p. p., not more than two guys with the same weapon.

This problem could be solved better with equipment-templates (and a few
sensible templates, e.g. Melee/Scout/Assault/HeavyWeapon-Guy, etc.).

It might also be nice to have a function to make the computer try and equip all the other soldiers like the current one. That way you could do all the common stuff, medkit, nvg, grenades, armor, then go and individually add primary weapons and make changes. It could really speed things up for people who have a "basic kit" that all the soldiers carry in addition to their weapons.

I'll second the idea for templates. It would be great to have definable templates using the same equipment interface as equipping is now. Template design -> Add Template -> Sniper: Sniper rifle in right hand, smoke grenades, regular grenades, and some sniper clips... maybe a handgun, etc.. But you should equip a dummy sniper soldier for defining the template, then there should be a dropdown list for the normal soldier equip screen where you can select the template for this soldier.
