Currently, the language is set via config.cfg.

It would be nice to have a button for changing it
in the option-screen.

Currently the language is set according to your OS default
(and it's written to config.cfg). But the code is misterious
here, I can't even set en_US as default if OS has no default
language set (as it happens quite often). See my attempts in
SVN (reverted) --- they always caused overwriting some OS
default language with en_US on one OS or another.

for selecting the languages to install,
and insert this as a setting into config.cfg
