Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/345 Item 345] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 18:18:28

from time to time the game will start to lag when in
combat, sometimes it will stop laging, it seams kindof
random and doesnt have anything to do with the amount
of characters or anything els on the screen at a time.

my system is a 2X3.2 ghz 2gb ram and nvidia geforce 7800 GT

i just discovered that clicking the floppydisk icon when in
combat and then clicking continue fixes it.

This "lag" is being reported across all OS's with similar
symptoms.. things slow down to an almost unusable state,
mouse movement becomes very jerky, things seem to usually
get better by going back to the options menu or pulling up
the console and waiting awhile... in my own experience these
slowdowns can happen anywhere in the game though (including
basic menus with no animation), usually last 15 to 35
seconds or so and are associated with (or cause) HDD
activity. Many map reloads/retries seem to make the problem
occur more frequently but that could just be my impression.

I'm marking this bug as a duplicate of
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1558498&group_id=157793&atid=805242
because I believe it to be the same issue (although in the
case of #1558498 the issue seems to render the game unplayable).
