After carefully studying the logs and backtrace I'm
concluding this crash was a result of bugs relatig to the
incorrect usage and assignment of aircraft IDX values.

I have carefully gone through the way aircraft IDXs
(base-relative and global) are handled in-game, which I
believe should have fixed this
(see for example revisions 3870, 3944 & 4108).

Before these patches it turns out that incorrect IDXs could
be created for newly "built" aircraft, when selecting from
multiple aircraft on the geoscape, or simply because the
global and base-local IDX values were being mixed up for the
intercept aircraft (usually they corresponded but on the odd
occasion they might not, potentially resulting in crashes
like this!).

I'm closing this issue as fixed for now (please re-open if
you can reproduce this bug with current trunk or 2.0 branch
SVN versions).
