Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/2953 Item 2953] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 19:54:51

The new map models are nice, however they show up-side-down on Geoscape-Docklet. I've checked, it's not a mistake of the docklet, but the models. If I change the docklet's model angle, it's okay for mission models but break flying UFO models.

So I've changed "defaultBaseAngle" constant in cp_maps.c so every mission models show up-side-sown on geoscape too, now these models need to be rotated. Note that this change may affect base, installation models too, but I saw no problem with them yet.

Another little issue is that the models view in the docklet doesn't fit the box, there is a black stripe on the bottom, black stripe also appears at certain view angles of geoscape. This needs to be fixed, players seem geoscape for quite much time. And if we're here I wonder if crashed UFO and UFO Yard models could be adjusted not to show black box around them..

black stripe on missionmodel
====== geever (2011-07-24 13:05:55) ======

The change was:
-static const float defaultBaseAngle = 90.0f; /**< Default angle value for 3D models like bases */
+static const float defaultBaseAngle = 270.0f; /**< Default angle value for 3D models like bases */

But I don't push it yet, if I'm wrong with the solution...

I'm also attaching an image with the black striped mission model at Kiev.

that black part are the bock sides the model is just a square box and the side parts don't get any light

Should be fixed in this commit:

Unfortunately it was the wrong axis.

I COMMITTED the defaultBaseAngle patch so the geoscape and the docklet shows the models in the same orientation. I hope it will be easier to fix them.

Note that base and installation models are affected by defaultBaseAngle too, but as those models are simmetric, they shows up correctly.
