Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/2906 Item 2906] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 19:54:51

Don't know whether this should be in Battlescape or Models category. In combat, when ordering a soldier wearing normal combat armor to crouch, the soldier crouches and the head of the model pops off, leaving a highly visible gap between the body and the head. Immediately after this, the head plops down on the body and the soldier is crouching normally.

It seems as if the model animation is badly out of sync. This is reproducible 100% even when graphics card and processor are not under heavy load and on a small, non-crowded map. See attached screenshot.

There are other animation issues as well.

1) When ordering a soldier in combat armor to crouch, if there are other soldiers on the screen already crouching, their models perform the crouching animation again very quickly, making it seem like they pop back up to standing and then all the models crouch simultaneously.

2) After firing a grenade launcher (usually when using 3-round airburst or timed), asoldier wearing normal combat armor gets stuck in twitching animation loop doing the firing sequence, their arm whisking back and forth like they were having aseizure. Behavior only stops when ordered to do something else or another actor is selected. Unfortunately, no video of this and animation obviously is not possible to capture in a screenshot.

System specs are Windows PX Pro, all updates, ATI Radeon HD5750 graphics card (Catalyst 11.4), E6600 Core2Duo processor.

Actor has been ordered to crouch. Body crouches, head floats in air, then plops back on the model. Screenshot of a disembodied head.

this might also be related to the head model or the tag file.

the head model must be properly aligned at (0,0,0) - and the translations vectors in the tag file must be correct, too.

I can also confirm this bug (w.r.t. crouched soldiers redoing the crouching animation).
I am using a nvidia GT220 with nvidia proprietary driver under ubuntu 11.04 (i386)
version 2.4-dev

Do you still have that problem with 2.4 or newer code ?
