Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/2679 Item 2679] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 19:43:45

Description
I jump into skirmish (on any map) and the map loads fine but when the model/objects load the building cast black shadows that do not get redrawn when I move the camera and the character models flicker and do not update the screen when I move them; within in a couple of camera moves the whole window is black.
* No errors in compile or run time noted.
* Previous versions did not display this behaviour

Do you use the last version of trunk?
The simular bug hase been fixed (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3059425&group_id=157793&atid=805242 ).
====== mikeecuffe (2010-09-09 13:04:33) ======

currently on buildf4f249567f67bda6b25a0b2d796b910d981f852d. I ran git fetch and confirmed the problem prior to posting this bug.

I agree, 805242 appears to be related but it was closed so I created a new bug.

it would be nice if you could do a git bisect session to nail down that bug.
====== mikeecuffe (2010-09-09 14:24:23) ======

good idea. I'll do it tommorrow
====== mikeecuffe (2010-09-10 06:46:31) ======

I ran the git bisect session (I'm new to git and thats a great feature) starting at version c19bf29 which works for me. And find that b82a6e9377471ffe0ae4df9b95a40b4736496562 is the first occurrence of the bug. I've attached the log so you can replay the bisect session if you want to; note that the skipped versions all failed to build and where skipped.

thanks a lot

http://ufoai.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=ufoai/ufoai;a=commitdiff;h=b82a6e9377471ffe0ae4df9b95a40b4736496562

you mean this revision introduced it?

meaning that this http://ufoai.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=ufoai/ufoai;a=commit;h=1c32626892d1abcee22ca81211f3751ea472d9a0 works for you?

asking because we switched from libsdl to libsdl-framework - to compile earlier revisions you don't need the frameworks but the "normal" lib versions of sdl_mixer, sdl_ttf, sdl_image and sdl installed.
====== tlh2000 (2010-09-10 07:04:41) ======

oh sorry - i was talking shit - you are not on a mac ;)

but the questions are still valid.
====== mikeecuffe (2010-09-11 09:29:43) ======

Thanks tlh2000 you made me revisit my bisect session results. I should have skipped version b82a6e9377471ffe0ae4df9b95a40b4736496562 as it wouldn't compile but it looks like I accidentally typed 'bad'.

i have rerun the bisect session (a couple of times). Irritatingly I couldn't pinpoint the exact version because so few actually compile and subsequently had to be skipped - I guess thats the benefit of per developer branches (but I'll save that for the forums). I'll attach the log so anyone can replay the session.

the bug appears between 1c32626 (good) and 4f23d8a (bad), thats 138 files changed, 1335 insertions(+), 1861 deletions(-) according to diff.

git bisect session results - revised
====== mikeecuffe (2010-09-12 08:36:36) ======

the bug was introduced in
commit 0921742854420619fed9697ac3335196ac40a8e4
Author: Martin Gerhardy <tlh2000@users.sourceforge.net>
Date: Fri Sep 3 07:49:10 2010 +0200
* fixed warnings and implemented quake3 style color codes

I found out by introducing Martin's fix in 4f23d8a to previously skipped versions as a patch that allowed me to compile most of them.
