Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/2613 Item 2613] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 19:43:45

ufo.exe hangs after loading. It displays 'Waiting for game start (0)' then after some seconds of calculation completely hangs. There is no useful info in ufoconsole.log.
The last version I got working was something like 30596...
I am sorry that I cannot provide more info, hope you get this nasty bug fixed somehow ;)

I am having this error during compilation, maybe this helps finding the bug...
Or it is just me ?
I did a cleanup, I even did a complete new checkout, no chance for me to get on the battlescape without crash...

Here is the compiler-warning:
In file included from C:\UfoAIBuildEnvironment_NEW\MinGW\ufoai\src\client\cl_game.c:27:
C:\UfoAIBuildEnvironment_NEW\MinGW\ufoai\src\client\cgame.h:74: warning: 'libintl_printf' is an unrecognized format function type

I have the same problem with it hanging in exactly the same way. Also nothing useful in the ufoconsole.log,
It may be a coincidence, but the game always hangs after loading battlescape when in fullscreen mode whereas it only sometimes hangs when not in fullscreen. Also, if I change anything on the video settings it will crash to menu when I try to resume.

I do not think that we are talking about the same bug, signano, because I NEVER can enter the battlescape regardless of the video settings !
Latest trunk does not even load the battlescape anymore, but UFO:AI completely shuts down shortly after displaying the loading picture...
Before saying 'Bye, bye' the sound begins to stutter in a dirty little loop...
Tested r30901 this time.
Wanted to attach the new gmon.out file created, maybe there is some more debugging info inside this file, but it is too big.
I will attach the file in a forum thread if you can need it to debug this ?!

Btw., I remember H-Hour reporting a similar bug on the IRC-channel yesterday ?! Maybe this is just some Windoof-specific bug ?!

Quote Muton:

I think the cb project file is missing something
or whatever
../../src/client/menu/m_sound.c/h
has been added lately .....

Edit:
Its a 32bit problem
No problem on XPx64
but no run under XPx32

/Quote end.

PLEAAASE HEEEELP !!!
====== mcr2010 (2010-07-07 08:46:58) ======

Now I got it to run somehow...

Do not ask me how

Here is what I did:
After making a new install I deleted all the files in the user directory (config.cfg, keys.cfg, stats.log) & used old versions of those I had backed up somewhere...

Suddenly it is starting again, everything seems to work normally. Weird !

I still do not know if you could install the game from scratch on XP 32bit, so I will not close this as many others in the forum seem to have a similar problem, but will lower the priority for this, as a workaround seems to exist now...
