Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/2575 Item 2575] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 19:39:33

ufoai_2._ amd64.deb hosted on sourceforge depends on nvidia-current, which is in Ubuntu's restricted package repository (for propriety device drivers). I think the dependency is a bug. When I try to install it with the restricted repository disabled, I get this error: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: nvidia-current.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.4 on x86_64 , with no Nvidia hardware.

Instead of ufoai_2._ amd64.deb I meant to type ufoai_2.3_ amd64.deb

I think this is an issue related to the new Ubuntu version - past versions of Ubuntu used different default drivers for video, much was changed for 10.4. I did some research - apparently some people with non-NVidia hardware end up with nvidia drivers being installed by default upgrade (from earlier Ubuntu versions) or by installing the new Ubuntu. Some people have reported on LaunchPad (Ubuntu bug-tracker) that they found NVidia drivers installed but not used, on their non-NVidia computers. Is it possible that the UFO:AI packaging system detects the non-used nvidia drivers and then makes a mistake? Just a guess...

More info on the new video system (different than past Ubuntu versions):

More info about non-NVidia machines ending up with NVidia drivers, messing things up:

I've seen in many places on LaunchPad that the Ubuntu developers have been postponing a fix on their end, and don't plan to fix the issues for a while yet.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing at least some of this may be relevant.
