The UFO is invisible because it doesn't exist anymore (there are no UFO at all in this savegame).
However, there is an intercepting phalanx aircraft that is intercepting this UFO that doesn't exist (ufo->aircraftTarget is not NULL, it's set to &gd.ufos[0], but gd.ufos[0] is empty).
In the savegame gd.numUFOs is 0.

Saving code seems to be OK. The highest probability I see is that gd.numUFOs has been set to 0 before the saving has been realized. Therefore, no UFO has been saved.
However, I gave a quick glance at location where gd.numUFOs. Everything seems fine :(.

while i couldn't reproduce the exact conditions, i tried some save/load sequences - couldn't reproduce, considering fixed in revision 21081
