You could try some hardware identification software. For example, hwinfo (http://www.hwinfo.com/), but there are many others.

Alternatively try GPU-Z.

The huge wait is not due to the installer.  As it is a single huge file, your anti-virus scans the whole 1GB file which can take a good few minutes.  Blame your anti-virus program or your slow cpu / hard drive.

Looking at ufoconsole.log I see where the delay is occurring:
The whole load process should take about one second, except for this:24 seconds to load "subsystem 'employee'".
I have the same issue, only this has been the case for as long as I can remember so I just assumed it was normal. Checking my log shows that the employee subsystem takes 23 second to load.
I compiled 2.5dev myself on 25/3/2013.  Running Win7 64bit, Phenom II X3 720, 8GB RAM, AMD 7850 graphics card.

You only have the default windows driver for your graphics card.  You'll need to get one from Nvidia.

It's pedantic I know, but the use of "that" is ambiguous - it can easily be read as him saying that we need to stop them from being shot down ! :)

The simplest fix would be to simply swap the two sentences around so that it reads:

A new bug seems to have been introduced in the last day or so.  I've had all of my plasma rifles disappear between missions on one occasion, and on another all of my plasma pistols disappeared.  These items were all present on one mission and then gone by the next.  Unfortunately I've overwritten the log file but I have attached a save game - Base Libya still has 30 clips of ammo for the plasma pistols but no pistols.

I can confirm this bug on the Mansion map.  It was working fine previously but not anymore.  No changes to video settings, only difference is that I recompiled this morning using Mutons tool (set to download maps).

As the title says, I've got a terror mission on the office map and every time I try to land, it loads the map and then crashes straight back to the geoscape with the error:

I'm running 2.5Dev compiled last night.

This isn't really a bug, but the base UI is pretty screwed right now - I think it was probably this commit that did it. 
I've attached a couple of screenshots to illustrate the problem - essentially the list items are now over-separated and controls are over-sized.
