ah, thx. after some testing a forumcommand "sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-swrast" helped. well. at least ufoai starts. but the maus is jerking extrem. i guess the driver is still not installed correct or the best for my card. i will see.

EDIT: ok. reactivated nvidia driver and now everything is working. mesa was a bad choice as i learned but somehow the reinstallation helped also the nvidia driver. no clue, but working :D

could you start it from commandline? The output contains valuable information (about the same ufoconsole.log should and a bit more)

hm.... tested again.
in the folder /home/username/.ufoai/2.4/base
are three files: history, stats.log and ufoconsole.log. the first two are empty. the third has just two lines. see last post.

EDIT:  how can i test if ufoai is installed correct? i just find empty folders.

hi
maybe some1 can help a linux-noob. yesterday i updated my xubuntu to version 11.10. then i got playdeb and with the progammcenter of ubuntu i installed ufo ai 2.4.1. hurray. but when i want to start ufo ai today nothing happens. ufoconsole.log says:

not much information, i know, but could some1 plz help me :D.
EDIT: btw. gamecentral says ufo has 24.5mb. sounds not much.

sry h-hour, like all others i guess, i like youre work. but your "recommendations" about this map.. well... plz no. not all maps should be "tactical". i like also some easy maps. and i think this map is far away from too easy. the tunnels are "bad" enough. you really want more walls? do you really like the feeling to go round a corner and see an alien that much?

if i should suggest something to shipit:
- delete all walls round the map and make with those an other very nice map with old design, maps can be too polished/designed if you want to integrate everything. ppl that make good maps make sometimes too good maps. sometimes its better for gameplay to keep things simple and make more different maps.

anyhow. this map is GREAT :).

but i wouldnt mind. i would like to see different decorations even more when u would see signs in different languages in the game on different maps - just fair ;).
[edit: well.. if possible chinese signs in china and so on]
wouldnt hurt if a player cant translate everything on his own. but i think the devs dont want that.

automissions should allow at least 75% of the exp i think. the "problem" of an automission is already, that your men die more often. like keybounce i think you should give players a bit freedom.

Anyways, to get the result in the pic attached here I had to edit the city mesh and extrude downward the lowest edges, making the streets look like they are held up by supports.  Not perfect, but nearly all I could do unless I started my own city model.
thats a great shot. and i also think that you did a really good job. its hard enough without aerodynamic and maybe more realistic rocketplacement (if u really want to change it.. try the airwolf design with rockets on the bottom. maybe easier http://gtasamugen.webs.com/airwolf02.jpg).
good p0ss (hope he is still active for ufo ai) found that city and you were able to integrate it.
(but also must suggest one thing: could you make the stiletto a little bit brighter? hard to say without seeing the video.)
i am getting more an more excited about 2.4.

wheel83... u shouldnt discuss too much of ure ideas here in the forums. people that work on artwork have often a hard time here. i guess when u post a simple grafic the chance that all love it is quite high. sometimes an image says much more than thousand words and for many people its much easier that way.
