Problem getting it going...
« on: July 25, 2006, 06:47:12 am »
I installed RC2.  The problems I had were that I'd have absolutely no sound anywhere and I could play up until there was an alien activity to investigate then after engaging my aircraft I'd click on the the location of the alien activity and it would instantly close the program and leave me at the desktop.

I figured since the game wasnt done it was just a glitch and it'd be fixed later.  I waited until RC3.  I uninstalled RC2 completely and installed RC3 when It came out.  Exact same problems.

I can make a team, arm them, loaded on an aircraft, warm up the aircraft to right above my base but when I go to intercept/move to a location it instantly drops me.  (All of this of course in dead silence)

.............

I use Windows XP Recently Reinstalled and fully patched.
I use SATA2 hard drives
a BFG geforce 6600 DDR3 OC
2gb of Corsair ram PC3200
Sound Blaster X-fi Gamer
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Mb (not in SLI mode tho)

I have windows set to use only default sound devices, and the sound blaster X-Fi is the default.  I do have a widescreen monitor and my drivers are setup appropriately but the problem doesnt seem to be video related.  The graphics look fine.

ANy advice?
