Some ideas

I had some ideas that might be helpful with the storyline. But first some questions to make things more clear:
Is there going to be some facility in which you can make your own weapons/crats/etc?
Are alien specimens going to be stunnable (capturing live aliens)?
Will there be a possibitity to research alien corpses?
Will there be fights between your and alien crafts?
Are there going to be alien bases?
(I asked just in case I've misunderstood the posts I've read)

And the ideas:
Skeleton reinforcement -- Improves the strenght and HP of the soldier, gotten after researching Cyborg Ortnok's corpse and discovering an alien metal (like Alien Alloys in UFO 1)
Text -- The cyborg ortnok we found hs mostly mechanical body parts, however, we have managed to make a skeleton reinforcement for our soldier, that will make them stronger and more resilient. However, we will need some way to find out how do the aliens install it without killing the subject. Until we do, we can manufracture them, but not install them on our soldiers, as they would die in the proccess.
Alien Medical Bay (can rsrch after capturing an alien colony) -- We have carefully examined the medical bay from the alien colony and utilized it for our bases. we can now construd medical bays, that allow us to install skeleton reinforcements and having one in the base also speeds up the recovery of wounded soldiers. Costs 200,000
Ammo improvements -- You can research ammo improvements for human weapons, i.e toxic bullets (can start to manufracture toxic bullets for bullet weapons) alien starts losing hp after getting hit and eventually dies, no use against alien machines, electrical bullets, that shortcircuit machines (read: very strong against machines) and stun aliens (but needs lots of bullets to stun, like 7 or so, but the alien might be dead before getting stunned (read: weak against organic enemies))
Attacking landed alien vehicles -- makes it possible to disable a landed alien craft, but never kills more than 2 aliens.

Ideas that go under storyline:
General alien anatomy (once you've researched more than 3 different corpses): From the current aliens that we have killed, we can assume, that there is a controlling species of aliens, as all our autopsys have shown that the aliens have brain implants that are clearly meant for controlling them. Some aliens implants, like those of (some species' name that can be considered as a tough soldier), are meant to remove fear and free will and amplify rage. While the implants of (some alien species weak in combat but good as supporters) are meant more for communication, they also have an implant that can send long range psionic messages, most of our scientists believe that this implant is meant to communicate to the leading species, in order to recieve commands.

Alien history (after researching 4 live aliens): Our lead scientist managed to build a mind reader, that can be used to view the memory of aliens, unfortunatly it's only useable in bases because of it's size. From the results, it seems that the aliens either have a very strong racial memory, or that the aliens that fight on the frontlines have been cloned, there are those who believe that the aliens are cloned, but it seems they simply have a strong racial memory, as, unlike with cloning, the DNA's are diferent and each aliens attributes are unique (not really, in combat they're all alike). The aliens seemingly lived in a very earthlike world, but then some disaster occured or the planet was simply depleted and turned into a wasteland. We belive that the need for more resource is the reason behind the alien invasion. *Obiously they don't realize that we we will soon, too deplete our planet.

Alien colonies (after capturing an alien colony): Inside the alien base that was recently captured, we found a lot of data on the aliens, more importantly, we found data on the alien homeworld and species, there appear to be *5 different species, plus the leading species, as all species were marked either as *soldiers of different types. The purporse of the colonies seems to be spaceports, to travel quickly though space, as it seems that they can't achieve truly high speeds in space unless there is a beacon at the destination. The homeworld seems to be at the coordinates 336,74 ; 199,2 ; 403,41. These coordinates are clearly meant to be used in space. Earth was marked as *553,5 ; 181,23 ; 392,11. Our researcher are split in the following question, some belive that the homeworld is in the Rigel system, others believe that it's in the *Antares system, *which is unlikely, as the coordinates indicate that the system is close to us.
Places that had adjustments made are marked with a *, typo corrections were not counted.

Yes, your ideas sound interesting and may be of use in the future. However, currently we abound in future-work ideas, half-implemented current ideas and unimplemented urgent things, so ... :)

If you want to contribute right now, please see TODO on the wiki. In time some of your ideas may find their way to the same TODO section and the wiki pages. Then after much talk, fleshing out, correcting things (if there are people willing to do that, instead of inventing their own ideas), they may enrich the game to everybody's content.
