Idea - Storyline character models?
« on: August 27, 2007, 11:13:47 am »
I've been toying with the idea of requesting models to be made for the storyline characters, such as Cdr. Navarre and Dr. Connor. I can easily draft up a number of detailed descriptions for them. This would also allow us to use them in cutscenes and such.

Anyone else think this is a good idea/worth the effort?

Regards,
Winter

Here is the list of descriptions:

Cdr. Paul Navarre

Features: Ordinary build female. Long face with strong bone structure. Narrow mouth with normal lips. Piercing eyes. Blonde eyebrows. Rigid, military bearing.
Clothing: Civilian clothing.

XO Abel S. Howard
---
Hair: Brown, bald on top.
Eyes: Brown.
Skin colour: Caucasian, American.
Features: Slightly overweight male, wide build. Has a face like an old bull; thick cheeks, broad nose, frowning brows over beady eyes.
Clothing: PHALANX uniform.

Cdr. (Air) Subakh al-Kuhar
---
Hair: Black.
Eyes: Brown.
Skin colour: Arabic.
Features: Ordinary build male. Prominent nose and eyebrows, face is otherwise plain. Wears a short black beard.
Clothing: PHALANX uniform.

Surgeon-Captain Helen Floydd

It is very nice idea because of various reasons, one of them is to make player familiar with faces of such main staff and use them in cutscenes, as you already wrote.

First of all, I don't have the heads, I play with the texture and project it ( 2d projection ) on an head.

Its just for making a choice what type of head you like, I dint change the color of the eyes.

Okay, out of those faces, I'd like to reserve the top middle one for Cdr. Navarre, the bottom left one for XO Howard, and the bottom right for Cdr. Al-Kuhar. Very nice work on all of them.

Nice faces, sitters. Unfortunately neither of them fit the (current) remaining storyline characters, but they'll be useful in general.

We still need faces for Dr. Connor, Col. Falkland and Surgeon-Captain Floydd.

I definitely like the face, but the piercings seem very out of place for the character. Mind you, four completely symmetrical piercings, two on both sides of the face, would look weird on anyone.

Would you mind making a non-pierced version? I'd really appreciate it.

Winter

I think it was a language issue, Winter.  You described her with "piercing eyes", and it got misinterpretted.  Saw it this morning (my time) and thought it was a great. :)

Oh, right . . . I can see how that might confuse someone who speaks mainly dutch. Thanks.

I'm sorry for the trouble, sitters. I meant that she's got penetrating, commanding eyes, not that she's got pierced eyebrows or nostrils.

Winter
