2. I placed a base in Asia, but the text is a little strange. If you look at the attached screenshot, it says "A new base has been built: Base Asia (nation: The Commenwealth of Oceania). However, the base is clearly nowhere near Oceania.

If you turn on the "Highlight Nation Borders" option you'll see that India and Madagascar and South Africa have joined Oceania to form the Commonwealth of Oceania.  Your base looks to be in India, just south of The Asian Republic.

Gren is very much on the right track here.  I've been thinking that it had more to do with length of playtime than action sequence as far as repeatability (which is why savegames never seem to repeat the bug immediately), but hadn't found a reliable way of measuring playtime to get to this bug.

Gren's method (just hit retry a bunch) worked for me - between the 7th and 9th retry each time.  In testing, I took it one step further and found that calling I_AddInvList (The function where the crash message is) 1025 times is what makes it crash.

Steps:

Navigate to your ufoai folder in terminal.
Type:

gdb ufo
break I_AddInvList
ignore 1 1024
run

Load a campaign and start a mission.  Send out the drop team and retry the mission until the breakpoint is reached, and when you hit continue, the program will exit with the error.


To playtesters who don't want to encounter this bug: Save, quit, and reload the game after 3-5 missions, especially if you retried them.

I don't think that means that the file size is zero, but I don't really know what it means.  I recognize it from my own console log, but it never seemed to cause any problems so I mostly ignored it.

It may have some information on why it's crashing.

Bugs prior to release 2.3 / [Fixed] Rev 28695 Possible workshop bug

A base with 2 workshops and 20 workers produces things at 4x the speed as a base with 1 workshop and 10 workers.  I can't be sure that's a bug, but it doesn't make sense to me that it would be that way. (Example: plasma grenades take 72h to produce at a base with 1 workshop and 10 workers, and 18h to produce at a base with 2 workshops and 20 workers)

When producing a dragon interceptor it always displays that it will take 600h to produce regardless of how long it will actually take.  Other production items count down to completion, but the dragon interceptor does not count down as it's being worked on, nor does it change it's production time to account for a base with more production facilities.  IE a base with 1 workshop says it will take 600h to produce and a base with 2 workshops still says it will take 600h to produce.  

This seems to apply to all aircraft, I just noticed it with the dragon interceptor because it's the first one I tried to produce instead of purchase.

Bugs prior to release 2.3 / Rev 28695 Monomolecular knife rotation.

The monomolecular knife is rotated wrongly in inventory.  When you put it in a 3 wide by 1 high slot, it is displayed vertically, and when you put it in a 1 wide by 3 high slot, it is displayed horizontally.

Looks like Valgrind was ported to Mac OS 10.5 but doesn't yet work with 10.6 because of 32 bit / 64 bit issues.

I've gotten this error a few times.  It crashes when printing out the soldier experience gains.

It's the end of a battle so I don't think I could have done anything differently to cause this.  That soldier has been in almost 30 battles, so it's a rare bug.

I'm also getting this bug and I can't find a way to repeat it, but my terminal does give a backtrace.

As you can see, this one happened just as the map was created, I had no time to perform any action before it crashed.  Other times this error occurs just when you kill an enemy or at the end of a mission.
