Windows / Prepare for 2.4? Which nightly build to download.......
« on: March 19, 2012, 08:14:57 am »

I downloaded this one "http://ufoai.org/snapshots/ufoai-latest-win32.exe" but it says its 2.5 not 2.4.

Should i have downloaded this one to test -  "http://ufoai.org/snapshots/ufoai-stable-win32.exe"

Thanks

i noted this time that it said do "make pk3" which i hadn't done before - not sure if this is something new -do the web page instructions need updating

anyway - it still crashed on the africa map - though slightly different error (negative TU costs)

i also noticed that it seems to happen after the game switches from full screen to windowed  - it does this itself for no apparent reason

hi geever

sorry but my knowledge of linux is limited

i just followed the svn instructions - basically download and compile then ran ./ufo from the trunk directory - does this count as "installing"?

are you saying that doing this also sets up stuff in the hidden .ufoai directory that synaptic would use

as a matter of interest how do you tell what version you are running from within the game?

thanks

thanks Destructavator

that sorted it

i was not searching but scrolling down - but the files were like libXVID which is why i missed them
:(

thanks geever

i have now installed from svn as well to use the latest version

what was odd was that it didn;t update whats in Synaptic (though i didn;t expect it too)
BUT
when i started the new version all my old saves were there from the synaptic version

is it safe to remove the synaptic version without messing up my svn version?

thanks

sorry - can't recall

but i was worried about whether i had recompiled maps

prior to the 'svn up' info i posted below i had done another one which i think updated a maps - but nothing happened then either with 'make maps'

so after any svn up i think all i need do is simply:
voteslave@quad:~/ufoai/trunk$ make maps

or am i missing something - like do i need do ./configure and make as well???

I tried to see again in the synaptic package manager and found like theora and xvid  ".dev or -dev"...
just install it....and then try another more installation....now compiling the maps.....hope for success...

Hi

I am having very similar problems with Ubuntu Jaunty - i have looked in Synaptic but there are no DEV files for xvid or theora - do you know what repositories these are in?

many thanks

Linux / Save bug (?) In Ubuntu 9.04
« on: May 04, 2009, 12:59:27 pm »
Hi

I have started 2 games now and had to abandon both (one fairly soon after start and one after several missions) because when i click on the Options button it goes direct to the load screen and doesn't give me an option to do a 'Save'.

I am using this version : 2.3 svn23838 on Ubuntu 9.04
And the latest linux nvidia graphics drivers on a GTX260.

I haven't seen what causes this - it just seems to happen randomly at some point in the game.

Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong, or maybe it restricts saves or something.

thanks

hmmm
just realised that installing those .deb sound packages has stopped all my sound from working - i think it must have uninstalled something

did you have a similar problem and if so how did you fix it?

thanks
