I think I'm stuck

Hi,

I came back to playing this game some time ago, after a longer pause (I think I was playing 2.3 previously, not sure though) and either something changed or I'm doing something wrong. I'm not sure but I think there was more than 2 types of aliens back then (not counting bloodspiders), and better than plasma alien weapons. I'm already finishing Starchaser research and still enemy difficulty doesn't go past medium armor and plasma blasters...

Is there some kind of 'trigger' and I still didn't manage to get it on or if it just removed content?

If you're playing 2.4, it just takes a really long time. The timing of campaign development was not worked out very well.

What do you mean by really long time? Months? Years? I'm almost one year from start, and I'm getting bored a bit, how long will I have to wait?

EDIT: Well I finally have something new, uff, thought it will never come...

So is 2.4 really really long for last techs? Tech @ 200,  at 443 wins. Date 2085 Oct 14.  At least 3 alien bases found 'months' ago, no infection %.  Have 3 alien powered interceptors, one alien powered troop carrier <not saying names so not to be spoiler>. Seldom see new battlescape. trying to get to end of technology development.
I have not seen the power armor development,  yet I see it in scenarios... 
Net: Is there more to uncover?
