I was thinking this is a pulse rifle/laser of some kind.. I got another deisgn for the human plasma rifle.*
and htat got me thinkign about the difference between a laser and pulse laser. Current lasers act like pulse lasers insted of regular ones. Why not have both?
Now regular lasers wouldn't have burts fire, no multipple shots - but longer lasting shot. Aslo, sicne they effectivey fire a continous beam, you're basicly swinging around a super-long lightsaber. There's no way in hell you're gonna miss during the entire duration of the beam (unless it's blocked by something), but you will have trouble keeping it on the target. In other words, daamage would be VERY variable depending on exposure time, but it would practicly always do at least some damage.
So for a continous beam, the accuracy would determine the damage done (allways with a little bit of randomness), and have a far lesser influence on the hit itself.
A pulse laser is pretty much like the current laser rifle. Only I'm nto sure if it woul even have a single pulse mode.
*But TM, why a human variant of the weapon?
Because alien weapons are not mean for human use. The grip and ergonomics, balance, etc.. all of it would make the weapon uncomfortable to use. We're talking accuracy/TU penalty for a non-alien using alien weapons.
A human variant would be somewhat less powerfull, but would have none of the ergonomics issues.
