Model texture problem
« on: May 14, 2011, 11:04:31 am »
Hi,

in any 2.4 build I've tried so far - most recently the ones from http://ufoai.ninex.info/snapshots/, but also the Windows installers posted on the forum - I've seen texture problems like those in the attached screenshots - the textures of models are garbled.

On the #ufoai channel, nobody has come up with a conclusive result so far. I've also searched the forum and bugs and feature trackers, mostly with the term "texture", but none of the results seems to match this problem.

The system this is running on uses a quite old video card - Radeon Moblity 9200 - so this isn't necessarily a bug in the game, but may be a video setting I'd have to change. I have tried most of them already, but of course not all possible combinations.

I've never seen any problems like this with 2.3 on the same system.

Regards,
Michael

Please, provide ufoconsole.log.
Also, Radeon has some problems with the game.

No tron mods involved :)

There's another post about texture problems on the Linux platform: http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=5917.0
I'm not sure if this is the same cause - in that thread, there textures aren't garbled, "just" the wrong ones.

Playing with some video settings has a temporary effect for me, too - most notably the texture resolution cap. On the lower settings (in the screenshots I'm using High), everything appears to be fine at first, but soon (triggered by switching from the geoscape to a base and back, or entering the battlescape) degrades to the same state as shown in my screenshots.

The console log could help. So might updating video drivers to the newest, perhaps even doing a clean install of them.
