I wanted to let you know, when dealing with md2s (our model format) you can change texture scale without any extra work. It is different than the maps, where the textures are given their own scale. On a md2 the texture is plotted to the coordinates, so as long as it follows the exact same shapes, you can make your textures larger.
If you're not already working with a larger source file, you might want to for aliens.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think for alien/soldier/civilians we could do up to 1024x1024 and for heads and weapons we could do up to 512x512.
Also, the soldier models are
currently being remade, but who knows when they will be done so your work will still be useful for a while.
