actually no... i've installed the package from a user repository in archlinux (aur). maybe the author of the package missed something. i'll tell him about it. thx for the help.

hmm... it seems my clever package management system has installed the data portion of the game from 2.2. that doesn't explain why the pak0 files are found twice, but it probably explains why it didn't work in the first place.

so i can start game and it's looking good so far. :)

I seem to have similiar problems, although I am using openSUSE 11.2. I think I might be missing some files, although I have installed the default ufoai packages from the repository. So this might be a packaging problem, can anyone help me decihper the error messages below?

you better download the game from the site. as i said, my package manager installed the 2.3 binaries and 2.2 data (maps), which it couldn't load/find. after i had manually overridden the repository directive it installed the right package and i could get into the game.
