30339 - Fuel runs out almost instantly

The missions are completely unplayable because the dropship runs out of fuel almost immediately after leaving the base.  I built a base in United America and had a terror mission there.  Even with 2 fuel pods the dropship must turn around almost immediately.  I know this is a development version, but that's a bit rediculous.

It was a bad idea text files are handled differently than binaries. The save you uploaded is corrupt. I've added savx to the accepted attachment list, so you can upload the save[1] as is now.

[1] due to the size limit most probably only uploading compressed saves will work

Yes it is present in 30350.  All I did was change the extension, I didn't modify the file itself in any way shape or form.  Anyway, I have attached save game as is and there should not be a need to compress it since it's less than 1024k.  In case it matter, I configured with the --enable-release flag and did the usual make lang maps and pk3 then the install.  

Another thing I noticed.  On the one mission it would let me reach when I clicked Enter nothing happens.  Maybe I wil run it from the terminal and see if I can capture any relevant output and I will post back.  Now I'm up to revision 30352 so I will continue to test.

Ok, I'm definitely seeing the same bug in 30352 as well.  I even deleted my save games and started a new campaign.  The dropship barely lifts off before turning around immediately with a "Craft is low on fuel and must return to base" message.  I don't get it.  :|

Like I said, I'm not seeing it on my install of 30350. Everything is working just fine with the 2.4 rev 30350 debug version.

This suggests something in your install or perhaps the savegame is corrupted.

Once upon a time we had such a (fuel) problem existed only in release mode but that was fixed (?). I cannot reproduce the issue with your savegame in release mode either (Linux, x86).

@Edi: Are you on Windows? Could you try it with a release build?

btw. Saves of UFO:AI are compressed already by default but there is an option to save without compression for debugging purposes (some beta-testers use that method). Uncompressed saves can grow to several megabytes and cannot be uploaded here (wo. compression). Just that's why I mentioned it here.

About the mission problem: you could have checked ufoconsole.log for more info aswell (note that your OS most probably caches the file so the end of it will be available after exiting the game).

Yes, I'm on Windows, so I'll see if I can manage that, but I predict that nothing out of the ordinary will happen with it.

If it does start going wrong, there was some fuel map update in 30340 if the logs were anything to go by. If it's an issue of savegame corruption or something else related to the UFO:AI profile, they may not be fixable even after the game is updated. Just like savegames that got corrupted before the base attack bug was fixed were irreparably corrupted.

We'll see.

The save is fine. Ships are at the base with full (fuel) tanks.

geever I did compile with the release flag enabled.  I will try to reconfigure without the flag and report my results here.  You said everything was ok but did you attempt to move the dropship anywhere and try to duplicate the bug?

Yes, I did and worked. That's why asked another windows user to check, maybe it only happens on windowses, we will see.

This log says nothing important. It could give info about the other problem, when the mission didn't start but I cannot see any mission-start attempts in it.

I'm to the point now that I think I may record a small screencast and upload it to Youtube so that you can see what is happening.  Before I reach that point, I must now see how the game functions without the --enable-release configure flag.  I guess I should have stuck with 30339 for the sake of helping to figure this out but I am fairly new to svn repos.
