Game sudden end

I was playing the game and it ended suddenly. Is it just not developed beyond a certain point? Can you finish a game at this point?

Hi! I've got same question like above - I'm playing version 2.2.1

After succesful mission when I have to avoid spreading some virus(where there is a huge ufo-something bigger than harvester) (in the end of november 2084) suddenly there is an info"thank you for plaing UFO: AI"  and something about playing multiplayer now:)
