Game work but first mission wont start...

Hi, maybe somoene have the same problem as me, the game start, i can do anything, but when the first mission happen, i reach the point and click enter and nothing happens... the game is stuck on the mission screen.

Any idea?

Hello,

First off, what version of the game did you download and from where?  Or did you build it yourself from SVN?

I have rev 26164, i download it from destructavator. But tonight i downloaded 26236rev and will see if it does the same thing. No build from myself. I did and upgrad of my video driver and whit the new version i hope it will be ok. If not i will tell you in a few min.

Still have the same trouble... i play a lot whit 2.2.1 and no problem, but since i've tried 2.2.3 the same things happen, i'm not able to enter the first mission. Whit video upgrad and new version im out of idea to make it work...

Check ufoconsole.log. There should be a message about the error. (Map missing or so..)

I'm having the same problem here. I'm running Vista x64, and I downloaded the ufoai-2.2-win32.exe package from Sourceforge. As with hertz, the game starts just fine and I can do anything I want right up until the first mission appears. Once my firebird arrives and I click the confirmation message about entering, the screen goes black except for the green cursor, and I can return to the geoscape at any time by pressing Esc.

Any help in solving this would be appreciated, as I've heard this game is pretty good.

(how do you get to the ufoconsole.log by the way?)

Hey Guys! It's quite bad merging two problems in the same topic at the same time. I've almost blamed hertz for not producing the same log... Anyway I'll try to handle them this way right now.

So, for the latter (Senteth) the relevant part was:

Sorry! I thought it was the same problem hertz was having since they sounded identical at first. I just posted here because most of the time people get irritated if you go posting multiple threads about the same topic.

That said, is there a place I can get the map descriptors without having to download the whole 385mb package again? (and where would I put them if I did get them?)

[Edit:] I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the package again, and now the map loads just fine.

All my maps log stop at the same place, stop writing at line 71 and the game not responding anymore, i have to stop the game from windows end program.

start it in a debugger and see where it loops - that's the only way to help us to provide a fix for your problem. if you have questions, join our irc channel and you will get help on debugging the game - there is also a wiki article about debugging it.

I'll be uploading a new installer tonight - I don't know if that would fix your issue or not, although if you want to stay the most up-to-date it would be best to learn to compile from SVN (detailed in the wiki).
