Description

I am using the mate desktop in 4k with compiz and decided to have a little break while working. Why not install a game from the repo, right?

When trying to start the game I get a black screen and some music. So it does not work. I don't mind if the game does not work at all, so what.

But when I tried to get out of the game to stop it I realized my desktop has been switching to some prehistoric 640x256 mode or something like that.

This completely messed up my desktop. What??

It will take days if not weeks to get it where I had it. I am doing a lot more than just playing games with the Linux box. Can you imagine?

I do not appreciate this at all!

This is a devastating and catastrophic bug if it destroys software and important settings outside the game.

Boy, I hate your game now!

At least put a warning in the description if your beeep beep beep up peoples desktops!

For Gods sake fix this!

Steps to reproduce this issue

install the game (i installed it from the Debian repo)

start the game

wonder shortly why there is only a black blank screen with some music

find a trick to get out of it

look in disbelieve at your desktop where all your now huge icons are crammed together in a tiny resolution

find a way to switch back to your favourite resolution

realize that your desktop is messed up completely

find a pillow to scream into it, destroy something useless or better yet go outside and chop some wood for the next two winters
