I cannot produce Rifle Particle Accelerators. They do not appear on the build list.

I can build the Particle Beam Rifle.

I do not know if this is a bug or not.

Did I misunderstand something?

It is intentional. Please read the research article on the accelerators.

Spoiler Alert:
"Commander, there is no chance in hell that we can build accelerators this complex this small. Not in our lifetimes."
