Pick up objects on ground?

Is it possible for a soldier to pick up something on the ground such as a weapon from a dead teammate? If so, how?

Sure. Drag & drop into inventory like you would when equipping soldiers. You need to have time units, space and carrying capacity though.

You need to go on the square the dead (or stunned) soldier/alien is on and open inventory. You will see the carried stuff on the ground and you should be able to pick up what you want.
Nte that it's also the way to drop equipment.
