No advanced radar in 2.5?

I have finished 3 games in 2.5 and never once saw an option to research advanced radar. Was it taken out on purpose?

You need an UFO storage at a base with workshops, store an UFO, research UFO theory, research the UFO in question, disassemble it and research alien detection. I think all UFO types have detection.
It's what I do first in the campaign.

I have researched alien detection long ago and no option appeared to research advanced radar.

Ah, I just realised I don't need to research it, the option to build it is there.
