Endgame

So I'm playing on easier (in 2.4) and I am actually at the end of the game. After 1 year ingame, the alien base popped up (right next to one of my bases...), but I'm not really done with the game and afaik from my last playthrough in 2.3 or so, doing the alien base mission will end the game.

My questions are:
- Is the alien base mission in 2.4 still the last thing in the game?
- Can I ignore and/or how long can I ignore the alien base mission, before I get a game over?
- What are the consequences in ignoring the alien base mission?

I'm asking, because I haven't seen the big alien ships yet, didn't see the better alien weapons (e.g. pw cannon, I believe), haven't even been able to build 1 of the newer interceptors, because they need so much alien material to build (too much in my opionion compared to what I get out of one 100% harvester), and also haven't researched everything, because I got the new drop ship research with the alien base message. I only want to research and see (nearly) everything in the game, before ending it. That's how I enjoy the game.

Yes.

You can, for a while. Alien activity will grow constantly, you can play until you can't handle the situation.

- What are the consequences in ignoring the alien base mission?

Aliens will strart missions, XVI will spread from there.

Maybe its possible to create a mod that ignores the game end and just go on after youve done the alien base mission?

It needs code change AFAIR. Not too hard but still needs recompiling.

one more thing to add: if you remove the end_game trigger, there won't be "end_game" anytime until you readd or lose.

Yes, or refuels it.
