Hi

i'm enjoying the game but there is a something that really annoy me, it's the lack of a browsable techtree. I found one opendocument in the source that looks like very incomplete so i want to make something else, sexier. Idealy i'm wanting to have something like what someone did for warzone.

I'm trying to read everything about the script (*.ufo), but i do not know if i will have write a parser from scratch (i'm a php boy) or if there is something already working that i can re-use.

so what could help me:
->if there are resources that are not at http://ufoai.ninex.info/wiki/index.php/Category:UFO-Scripts
->if the format used in the ufo script is well known, tells it to me cause i do not recognize it.

i don't even know whether this tool still works - but you could give src/tools/ufo2dot.pl a try - this script will generate a graphviz file that you can tweak further

1/ no it does not work anymore... there are one unknown requirement ...
2/ there are already lot of stuff implemented ( 3 years ago )
3/ but it's perl and i'm not familiar with this language

i've got a patch that put the script back on the tracks.
i'm sorry i still don't have an account to submit the patch myself.

i would gladly post the generated picture BUT it's a 2Mb png file.

hi

i make some little progress on how to read *.ufo files. I'm wondering if there is a library where i can find all the "weapons" as a "usual" picture (png/jpg) and not like a 3d model textures i don't know how to exploit. i had a look at media but it's not complete.

hi. no everything is in 3D, else few things in the wiki.
but maybe it exists external tools to well display ufoai models.

You can visualise most of weapon models with a md2/md3 viewer, it looks to work well.

You can also use UFORadiant's modelviewer to display the models in 3d.
Open it, right click on an empty spot in one of the 2d views -> Add model opens the modelviewer.
