p0ss's songs
« on: January 22, 2011, 02:19:01 pm »
Hi there,

I made these songs for an Inde Cyberpunk game called "Zion" that never saw the light of day, since I own the rights I figured I'd release them under GPL to you guys.

Here are 8 tracks, I don't know if you can use any of them but I thought I'd let you decide that for yourselves.

thanks a lot - i've added them to our data_source repo. crystan is our sound designer, i'm sure he will have a look at them and report back. please keep in mind that we have to convert them into ogg files, as we don't support mp3.

Nice tracks but sadly they dont fit to UFO:AI. Sure you can try to compose some Songs for UFO:AI if you want. Take a look on my work if you need a inspiration:
Battlescape01
Battlescape02
Geosphere04
Geosphere03

cool crystan, so if I'm going to do more tracks for UFO:AI they need to be slower, have cheesier synths and less variation?

Not exactly. It depends on the game situation for that you want to create the music. My personal main conditions for Battle/Geoscape Music are:

  • Avoid too fast, "happy" and complex melodies or beats. (complex melodies are okay as long as they fit)
  • Use quality samples (Obviously you use FL Studio (as i do) - never use FPC Drums for electro styled music - Slicex plugin with the stock loop samples are always a better choice)
  • Avoid unpleasant effects or instruments.
  • Pads are always nice.

You can also check out the original X-Com (Enemy Unknown and TFTD) Music as well as the UFO:After shock/light music.
